Raw denim jeans, also known as selvedge denim, is a not-yet-shrunken denim that has not been treated. Throughout the early 1900s, jeans were made of raw denim but towards the lather half of the century, American manufacturers started to move towards more cost-efficient methods of mass production. Raw denim is harder to find in our day and time but there are still many brands dedicated to the appeal of raw denim. Here's why raw denim will always be a good investment:

DURABLE

Raw denim is made using old shuttle looms, a technique that creates a tighter weave, making the fabric more durable and more stiff that what mass production creates. The selvedge edge and the heavyweight denim that it's often made of also adds to its durability factor. A pair of raw denim, if taken care of properly can last anywhere from a few years to a decade.

PERSONALIZED

Like a good leather jacket or an old friend, raw denim will become completely your own - it's up to you to break them in and give them character and personality. The fade and creases of a raw denim will come from how often you wear and wash your jeans and it will soften and conform to your body as you continue to break them in. Note, if stretch suits you more, then avoid raw denim.

TIMELESS

If you love designs and pieces that will never go out of style, raw denim should already be in your closet. There are a lot of trendy new denim styles and washes but none can compare to the timelessness of raw denim. Earning your fades and ending up with a unique look will make your denim special to you - there's a sense of pride and ownership to your jeans and that will always be cool.
